 Malinalco is a magical place.  It is located in the southern part of the State of Mexico.  It is only 65 miles from Mexico City and 42 miles from the city of Toluca.

This beautiful town rich in traditions is 5,740 feet above sea level.  Its weather, which is subtropical and humid, is truly enviable.  The average annual temperature is 68 F.

Malinalco is a place where you will find matchless beauty.  Part of this beauty stems from the image of a typical town surrounded by the impressive scenery of its mountains characterized by their peculiar formations.

Walking its cobble stone streets allows one to breathe in the tranquility of a colonial town.  Visitors will also be able to get to know the traditions and customs that make up the heritage of greatness of a town that day by day turns this charming place into a living legend.

Other recommendations


•We recommend that you try the delicious bread made in wood ovens which is sold in the municipal market and other bakeries around town.

•August 6 is a good day to visit because it is the day of our patron saint, the Divine Savior.

•Come to Malinalco during Holy Week and watch the special way in which the Passion of Christ is represented.

•If you do not like trout and would rather eat a delicious tilapia, visit the place known as Las Palapas which is located in the town of Puentecito, on the way to Chalma.

•Visit the Cultural Center Malinalxochitl where you will find temporary exhibits of great quality.

-Government offices: Weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

-Businesses: Generally speaking, stores are open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Some businesses which cater to the tourist sector (galleries, bars, restaurants, cafes, among others) are only open from Thursday to Sunday.

-Banks: Santander Serfin from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Banco Azteca from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday.

About the language

The official language of Mexico is Spanish.  The English language is understood and/or spoken by only some of the tourism industry staff.



Weather

The weather is Malinalco is warm.  It is sub humid and sunny all year round. Average temperature ranges from 68 F to 91 F.  The hottest months are March to June and the rainy season is July to October.



Recommended clothing

During the daytime, lightweight clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, sandals and tennis shoes are acceptable.  Warm weather clothing and high heels should be avoided, especially if you are planning on taking walks or visiting the archeological zone.
